County Finance Supports Rainbows Hospice Charity - Posted by admin 14.01.16

Rainbows is a Leicestershire-based charity that run a hospice for children and young people in the East Midlands. For the past two years, our Office Manager Joanne Stonier has been involved in helping to raise money for this charity and in 2015 County Finance Group also got involved in supporting their second annual concert and funday held at the Red Lion in Huncote.

The event was held over the August bank holiday weekend and included live music, an outside bar, BBQ, carnival-style games, a cake stall, a book stall and a raffle for which County Finance Group donated the main prize of a flat screen television and a case of wine. The concert was a resounding success raising £4461 in one afternoon for the charity. It has grown in size significantly since its inaugural year, and will hopefully continue to grow year on year as it becomes a regular event in the local community calendar.

Images of the event can be seen below:

Rainbows hospice offers palliative and end-of-life care for children and young people with life-threatening or life limiting conditions. It includes 14 bedrooms, family rooms, gardens and facilities such as a soft-play room, cinema and hydrotherapy pool. Having first opened its doors in 1994, it has offered children and families a safe and friendly environment during difficult times for over 20 years.

They offer a full range of services including:

  • Physical care, such as washing, dressing and feeding
  • Psychological and emotional care and support
  • Social care, including groups and activities for families
  • Cultural care, such as dietary needs and language considerations

This care and service is provided completely free of charge.

Over the years the charity has attracted the support and endorsement of various celebrity patrons and ambassadors. You can view a mini-documentary of Rainbows hospice introduced by Helen Mirren below:
